“The application has failed to start because its side-by-side
configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use
the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.”

If so, here's what to do:

First make sure you have all the latest updates for your computer.
Then go to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26347. From this page you need to download and install vcredist_x86.EXE

That should fix the problem. If not, try the solution found in the Daz help center:https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/entries/20633961A. Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065116855789072642.post-65048886376549946372012-08-21T10:57:00.002-07:002013-04-03T04:14:08.936-07:00Bryce documentationThere is some useful documentation for Bryce available on the web, so I've added some new links in the resources sections for these. Many of them were written for versions prior to 7, but most of the Bryce features have remained unchanged, so they are still very useful. There's also some books out there too, the most famous being Susan Kitchener's Real World Bryce 4 which I was fortunate enough to get a copy of this year. It is the Bryce bible!

One can't be sure how long some of the older documentation will be available on line, so I'd grab them now whilst they are still around!

Bryce 7 Manual - PDF of the official guide from DAZ3d
Shortcut keys colour set A - A PDF of all Bryce keyboard shortcuts. A great compilation, although one or two shortcuts may no longer work in Bryce 7.
Shortcut keys colour set B - Same content as colour set A, just in different layout colours.

Bryce 6 manual in German - I personally favour the Bryce 6 manual over Bryce 7 as it includes sections on metaballs. Here's the German version. The English version doesn't seem to be available on the web anymore - if anyone can host it send me the link and I'll post it here.
Bryce 5 manual - PDF version by DAZ3d
Bryce 4 manual - now we're really going back in time! PDF manual by MetaCreations. I had to add this for sentimentality purposes. Does anyone actually still have Bryce 4?

Real World Bryce 4 by Susan Kitchener - It may have been written for Bryce 4 but the majority of the content still applies today and is fantastic. It's the most comprehensive work regarding Bryce. If you can find a copy snap it up! You won't regret it! Some copies are available here on Amazon (new and used).
This will mean a few changes, such as the Platinum Club voucher usage, no user forum galleries, and no more Fast Grab offers. Installers will be provided in .zip files and a new gallery system will follow at some point. There'll also be new features in the store such as product comparisons. For all the details, visit the official DAZ 3d forum thread here and some screenshots and more info about the store have been posted here.

Before the upgrade next week it's worth popping across to free.daz3d.com , which is a section of the current site offering a nice range of free items. There's a general free model archive (models could be used in Poser, or DAZ Studio, and also imported from DAZ Studio to Bryce using the DS Bridge), and a Bryce free archive, both offering a really nice range of models. I used this a lot when I first started out in DAZ Studio, it's a great resource, but you need to act fast as this won't be maintained after the upgrade. Here are the links:
